Service Dogs must be individually trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability. Service Dogs are protected under federal ADA law and are generally permitted access to public places and accommodations. Service Dog: is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person's disability.
Therapy Dog: is defined as a trained therapeutic dog that provides psychological or physiological therapy to individuals other than their handler. These dogs do NOT have ADA public access rights and must have permission from an establishment to enter.
