The ActiveDogs Wheelchair Pulling Harness was specifically designed for handlers who use wheelchairs and need a stable, dependable harness that supports both mobility assistance and everyday working dog tasks. Unlike general-purpose harnesses, this design focuses on comfort, control, and proper weight distribution for both the dog and handler.
The harness features a reinforced back plate that provides added stability when using the stand-up handle. If a handler needs to stand, balance, or apply pressure to the dog while transitioning from a wheelchair, the rigid back plate helps distribute force evenly across the harness, reducing strain on the dog while providing greater support and control.
A raised stand-up handle is positioned for easy access and includes two heavy-duty D-rings. This dual D-ring design offers multiple working configurations, allowing handlers to attach a wheelchair pulling leash, standard leash, or both. During training, one leash can be attached to the front D-ring while a pulling lead is attached to the rear D-ring, providing additional control and flexibility. The rear D-ring can also be used to give the dog more working room when navigating narrow spaces.
The top of the harness is intentionally free of MOLLE webbing and large hook-and-loop panels, creating more visible space for identification patches while maintaining a clean, professional appearance. Two adjustable girth straps, connected by a floating stabilizing strap, help keep the harness properly positioned and minimize rolling during use.
For comfort, both the chest and back plates are padded and lined with soft Sherpa material. The wide chest plate helps distribute pulling pressure across the dog's strongest muscle groups, reducing stress on the neck and providing a safer, more ergonomic pulling experience.
Reflective webbing on the chest and rear girth straps improves visibility and safety during low-light conditions.
