Service Dog & Therapy Dog Vest Kits with Vests 

Service dogs have been individually trained to perform tasks to assist people with one or more disabilities. Since disabilities vary greatly, service dogs are trained to do a wide variety of tasks. For instance, guide dogs are trained to help those with visual impairments. Mobility dogs are trained to help people with mobility issues. There are also hearing dogs, medical alert dogs, autism service dogs and psychiatric service dogs. In order for a person to legally qualify for a service dog, they must be considered disabled and the dog must be trained to ADA specifications. 

Many service dogs can be identified by the service dog vests they wear, leash covers or special identification tags. Doing such makes it easier on the handler in public, lessening the inconvenience and explanation of their service animal. Some businesses, such as airlines, prefer to see an identification card or vest that indicates the dog is indeed a service dog.

 Therapy dogs are commonly privately owned and tend to visit facilities on a regular basis. Since therapy dogs are not covered under any specific federal laws, therapy dog owners must get permission to bring their dogs to businesses or other public spaces beforehand. Many places welcome therapy dogs if the dog is trained and obedient, does not pose a threat to others, can benefit those present at the facility, and does not adversely affect the facility's operations. Vests, leash covers, or tags are all great ways to help identify therapy dogs.
