The ActiveDogs Pulling & Balance Mobility Dog Harness was designed specifically for mobility assistance, wheelchair pulling, balance support, and service dog training. In fact, this is the harness style many professional mobility dog trainers use to begin training future mobility assistance dogs because it is lightweight, comfortable, allows excellent freedom of movement, and provides a safe way to introduce pulling and balance work.
The design originated from the need for a form-fitting mobility harness that would remain stable on the dog while assisting with wheelchair pulling and providing support during handler transitions. Unlike attaching a pulling leash to a dog's collar, which places unnecessary strain on the neck, this harness safely distributes pressure across the dog's chest and body where a dog's pulling power naturally originates.
A dog's strength comes from its chest, and the Pulling & Balance Harness is specifically engineered to utilize that strength safely and effectively. Whether assisting with wheelchair mobility, balance support, or mobility service dog training, this harness provides comfort and stability for both handler and dog.
Positioned over the dog's girth is a raised stand-up handle that is strategically placed for easy access when balance support is needed. The handle allows handlers to maintain a natural grip while remaining close to the dog's center of movement. Heavy-duty welded D-rings are located on top and on both sides of the handle, providing secure attachment points for pulling equipment, mobility accessories, bridge handles, and leashes.
The harness features a non-restrictive back plate that allows full shoulder and body movement while providing space for identification patches. The back plate is designed to accommodate one of our specialty patches for clear service dog identification.
For maximum comfort during mobility work, all major pressure points are heavily padded. The underside of both the chest plate and back plate are felt-lined and covered with soft sherpa material for enhanced comfort. The girth straps include removable, washable sherpa covers to help keep your dog comfortable during extended wear. The exterior of the chest and back plates is constructed from rugged 1000-denier material for exceptional durability and long-lasting performance.
The front chest straps feature double adjustment points for a customized fit, while the girth section includes dual side-release buckles and adjustable slides for easy fitting and removal. The harness is simple to put on by slipping it over your dog's head, guiding the chest plate support strap between the front legs, and securing the girth buckles.
For added safety and visibility, reflective webbing runs vertically along the front chest plate, helping improve visibility during nighttime walks, early morning outings, and low-light conditions.
Each harness includes two standard rocker patches for identification—one for the front of the harness and one for the top panel. Specialty patches are available separately.
